Program Assessment

Most firms in the AEC industry have adopted a professional development program at some level with varying degrees of success. In today’s war for talent, it is incumbent upon professional services firms to create and maintain a professional development program that can both attract, grow and retain top talent. The most prudent way to begin the professional development improvement process is to evaluate your current situation. Quite simply, our professional development audit will compare what you’re doing to what you should be doing. We’ll conduct internal surveys involving both supervisors and staff to pinpoint needs and gaps. Based on this verified baseline, we’ll develop tailored recommendations and strategies that will help you achieve your goals. The product will be a performance-based plan with key milestones as well as a budget.

Program Development

Our involvement in the actual establishment of the professional development program can range from advisory support to a turnkey, start to finish program tailored to your specifications. Having previously built professional development programs from the ground up, Tuminello Consulting is able to provide a stage-by-stage roadmap for success. Based on Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Learning, major components of the program include:

Recommendations for and development of the Learning Management System (LMS) or Learning Experience Platform (LXP)

  • A database system to curate and manage all professional development data including individual career to competencies tracking, PDUs tracking, performance analytics, etc.

  • Curriculum development tied to competency and skill requirements by position

  • Redefined job descriptions tied to competency and skill requirements by position

  • Career path development based on position

  • A process for assessment for Levels 1-4 in the Kirkpatrick model

  • Course creation and development using multimedia software like Adobe Captivate and PowerPoint enabling in-class, remote and microlearning environments

  • Creation and implantation of a train-the-trainers program

Train-the-Trainers Program

While there is a variety of effective programs available on-line covering a wide array of both technical and non-technical subject matter, there will be the necessity for your own subject matter experts to deliver specific technical and non-technical training to maintain your standards and unique approaches to project management, design and project delivery. The problem is that some of the best subject matter experts are not, at the same time, natural born trainers. Using experiential learning techniques and other resources, our train-the-trainers program will show your subject matter experts how to translate their vast knowledge and skills in ways that are engaging, fun and exciting.
